Alumni Unite Through Service
On Jan. 21, Carlthorp School hosted our inaugural Alumni Community Service Night at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles, bringing together a group of about 60 alumni, parents of alumni, family members, faculty and staff, and administrators for a special evening of community action.
Together, attendees joined forces to prepare 400 meals with OBKLA, which works with several local nonprofits to serve people who are unhoused or experiencing food insecurity in our region.
For Carlthorp’s alumni community, it was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with one another while volunteering in a meaningful way. The event united alumni spanning more than 30 years of graduating classes, illustrating the strong bonds that graduates have built with each other and with Carlthorp.
Throughout the school year, Carlthorp students engage in Service Learning programming, which helps them understand the world around them and empowers them to effect change in society. The Alumni Community Service Night served as an extension of Carlthorp’s emphasis on our Code of Conduct and our goal of instilling in students a sense of compassion that will last a lifetime.
“This gathering served as a powerful testament to our shared commitment to making a positive impact in the world around us,” Associate Head of School Steve Springer said.
