Every student and every family at Carlthorp School can recite the Code of Conduct, which expresses the fundamental values and ethics that are the foundation of a Carlthorp School education.
In 1999, Carlthorp School introduced the Code of Conduct to the community in response to a CAIS Accreditation (1998) recommendation that the school “ensure the preservation of CS traditions.” Consequently, a committee was formed including both faculty and administrators who developed a formal Code which, according to the school-wide action plan (1999), "would make both students and teachers aware of our high standards.”
Making good life choices every day is part of what it means to be a member of the Carlthorp School community. This concept, expressed through our Code of Conduct, has not changed since the founding of the school. When our graduates come back to visit us, they often comment that the Code of Conduct remains a valuable focus in their lives.
